F.A.Q.
Can I send my item to you for painting?
Yes you may. However, we cannot paint certain substrates. For example, paint will not stick to some surfaces (e.g. silicone, chrome, construction helmets, some powdercoated metals, etc). and we cannot effectively paint these items. If you have a question about the suitability of your item for painting, please contact us.
For fine art prints, we provide the appropriate canvas or metal panel and you do not have to worry about shipping anything to us.
If we are not expecting a shipment, we do not accept delivery and it will be returned to the sender.
Does airbrushing affect the integrity of a helmet?
When you purchased your new helmet, it came with a factory warranty. If you read the warranty, it will tell you specifically that having your helmet painted by ANYONE other than the factory or a factory certified painter will void your warranty. Most helmet manufacturers will void your warranty even if you put stickers on your helmet. Some paints (such as solvent-based) or some glues can weaken the integrity of a helmet. AIRGUNNERZ ™ uses only water-based paints. Nevertheless, custom painting of a helmet will void the manufacturer’s warranty. Therefore, all helmets painted by AIRGUNNERZ ™ are to be used for display purposes only. If customer chooses to ignore this, customer wears helmet at own risk.
How long will an airbrush T shirt design last under normal washing conditions?
An airbrush design should easily hold up for a couple of years with minimum fading. However, fluorescent paints are not light-fast and may fade sooner, based on how often the painted garment is worn and washed.
What paints do you use?
We use exclusively Createx water-based paints. Where applicable, finished artwork is protected with either urethane or water-based clear coating systems.
How often will I receive progress reports on my project?
We will send you photos via email of your project after each step. If you decide to make changes at any time, you may choose to do so. However, please note that 2 revisions are included with your deposit. Any changes you make after that require additional work for us, which will increase your final cost. Additional changes will be billed for at the usual hourly rate. All revisions require approval in writing. You will be notified of any increased costs resulting from revisions not included with the deposit, and will be required to approve any revisions in writing before we continue with your project.
How do you protect my artwork?
This depends on the artwork. Fine art is preserved with spray-on archival urethane. Metal panels, helmets , etc. are protected with either urethane or water-based clear-coating systems.
Is prep work done by your shop?
In most cases, we perform the prep work ourselves on our projects, but we do have a professional paint and body shop that can assist in the prep for painting and clear coating if it is an extremely large project.
